I remember the times when the library forbade anyone carrying bags to enter it- forcing them to keep them in the lockers. I remember the library which prohibited unformal footwear like sandals in it's premises. I remember the library whose only mode of payment is using the cash card.
Now, you can pay via cashcard, nets or EZlink. Now, even slippers and bags are allowed. And this holiday season, the NLB ups it's hip image by doubling the number of books that can be borrowed to 8. Dubbed opertaion Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) , it lasts from 1 Nov 05 to 31 Jan 06.
I wish I could tell you that's all but the fact is, there's more.
The library has recently just started a book blog .

Going to the library has never been this cool.
Thanks for this plug. Yup, I too, remember the days when one had to queue for 30 to 60mins just to borrow or return books to the library. And the library staff were damn fierce! Glad those days are past.
