Pirates and the chicken chop

I specially took the saturday off to watch Hai Sing in their National Band Competition, but due to some mix up (and lack of foresight on my part) I ended up watching Pirates of the Carribean with Jia hui and Alan instead.

I thought the first one was really quite good. The second one though, suffers from a sequel's curse. There were great effects, comical moments and when two hours into the film later, you find out that this one is actually a teaser for the a third installment, you wonder to yourself: there's more?

The truth is, I had enough of pirate talk, lame talking parrots and weird references to Singapore. (Captain Jack Sparrow apparently sailed here)

Beyond the zillion dollar effects splashing all over the screen, I felt a little seasick and lost.

At the end of the day, I felt cheated.

After the movie, I decided to try KFC's newest offering, the O.R Chicken Chop .

Treat yourself every day? no thanks.

For $5.95, you get the above and a drink. You can also order the chicken chop Ala carte (without drink) at , if my memory serves me well enough, $5.50.

OK. So it does not come in a plate. It comes in a black paper plate with three compartments much like Long John Silver's . At a glance it looks really quite good. The chicken looks fantastic with the sauce, the cole-slaw is mixed with raisins and to top it all off, chunky US fries. What's not to like?

Quite a lot, it seems.

Being the chicken expert, there definitely are expectations for a product like this and sadly, the main part of the meal, the chicken chop, tanks. Maybe it's only at the branch I was eating at, but the chunk of chicken turned out too salty for my liking. The sauce, that came from the Shroom's burger tasted, if anything else , boring.

I'll order a Zinger any time.
