Cheer

The highlight of last weekend was going to Cheer Chen's concert at the Indoor Stadium. Great music for a great evening- who could ask for more? To make it even better, our seats were upgraded from Balcony to Terrace! Since HS and I were there rather early, we got seats right smack in the middle of the stadium. To top it all off, the Indoor Stadium's so much better in terms of seating arrangement - it didn't matter the front rows stood up or not - you still were able to watch the concert. That's quite a far cry from Singapore Expo. Being vertically challenged meant that once, in a concert held at Expo, I had to stand on chairs.

The one bad thing about it being held at the Indoor Stadium, however, is that it can be one kind of difficult to find your way home after that. Saturday was a testament to that.

The next day, I attended yet another concert, this time to support my friends in Mus'art Wind Orchestra. The first half was conducted by Mrs. Chua while the second half was taken by a music student having his exam. I think the gem of the entire concert was The Butterfly Lover's concerto, a new work by Dr. Hardy Mertens. The song is based on the Chinese story but in reverse chronological order featuring the Er hu. I nearly teared at one part from the heart wrenching Er Hu vibratos.

It is quite safe to say that I will never look at the humble Er hu the same again.
