That's partly the reason why I got my agent (machiam 007 like that) to place me in morning shifts all the way through may. Sure, getting up can be a pain but the perks more than compensate for the ungodly times you had to get up.
Since it is in my interest to surround myself with happy employees the rest of the month, I'ld like to share some of the wonderful things you can get out of working early.
Today. I love the tabloid but absolutely hate the queues that form up every morning for it. If your company is like mine, before 7am, the today papers are delivered to the security desk awaiting my collection. So if you encounter a rather slow workday you can catch up on the news for free. I particularly like solving the Sudoku puzzles.
No Boss. Chances are if you arrive at work before eight, the boss isn't around which means you can pretty much do anything you want, from charging your mp3 player on your company's computer to eating prata on your desk. Normally I choose to do both at the same time -and maybe sing along to Hotel California.
Special promotions. Last week I got my colleague to buy breakfast for me- Bee hoon mee with egg which I shelled a grand total of $1 for. I do believe it is so cheap it can rival even primary school canteens! I mean freaking $1? Where do you get that in Singapore? Then she dropped a bombshell on me. The prawn mee is also going for $1 if you buy before 10am.
Special someone. Plus if you have a fancy for someone in the workplace and conincidentally is in the morning shift with her, it's the perfect excuse( I think) to meet up for breakfast. And since it is early in the morning, the canteen can't be too crowded can it?
What , my shift ended already?
