The truth about Crumpler bags

is that I think they are way over-priced.

From $95 to well over $180, these bags are a common sight in NUS. They are so common I feel I am not in the "in" crowd without it. Thus started my quest to get myself one. At first I used a very common tactic and cashed in with Christmas's approach. The conversation would proceed along the lines of the following:

Me: "Eh...you know hor Christmas coming right?"

Victim A: cautiously "ya..."

Me: " Can get me a Crumpler bag? "

Victim A: ...

Common answers also include Crumpler pouch (which are also very expensive), crumpled (paper)bag and even the occasional "maybe when I strike 4D."

not quite what I had I mind...

Christmas came and went but I got no Crumpler bag. In the end , driven by the theory of economics, I found a (almost) perfect substitute in Bugis village walking there one faithful night.

The uncle at the shop must be very concerned about his sales figures because the moment I hesitated a little, he cut his price from $25.

"eh... $22 can a not?"

I think he is not very good at reading faces because I was trying to decide between the black one and the brown one. I finally settled on the black one as my senior has a similar brown one and everyone knows black equals cool.

The uncle even gave me a small tip when I was about to leave the shop.

" If the words bother you, just flip over!"

And this is exactly what I am going to do.

I am such a happy (and clever) boy.
