Yesterday for my one day assignment at the bank, I wore the black shoes I bought from my camp's E-mart. It's highly polished surface makes it,more often than not, instantly recognisable. Along with my shiny shoes I wore a pair black pants and a beige short sleeve shirt.
As I was walking to Tampines interchange after work, there were as usual some credit card and insurance policy touts standing near the MRT station, waiting to close their next transaction. In what I imagine to be an attempt to strike a chord in my heart, one agent near me tugged at my sleeve and proclaimed with much conviction in her voice,
" You are an army regular right?"
I almost choked on my own saliva as I waved her a no and hurried away.
p.s. Apart from the likeness of the army no. 3 and what I wore that day, I realised that there was one other thing that led her to that conclusion- My army green converse sling bag.
