Timbré

Timbré is the kind of place you find yourself in when you just feel like chilling your Friday night away with a beer or two.

It touts itself as an "Music Oasis within the City". Although strategically situated opposite Singapore Management University's School of accounting, I still took about twenty minutes or so to find it. My poor direction sense certainly did not help. In my defense it was really quite tucked away OK.
Together with my Army mates we got ourselves a table for 15 which had already been reserved for us. We were there to get together as our good friend, soon-to-be Dr. John was in town and we thought he might treat us.
In all, the food there was quite good but the service left more than a little to be desired.

One more?

We arrived at 630pm and ordered not too long after but we waited for about half an hour before all our orders were settled. I ordered Cajun chicken and basil pizza and basically I wolfed it down before the last order was whisked out. For the record, even though I was quite sick of pizza from Italy and the style of it when it came screamed Italy, it still rocked. And so did the steak which I managed to get a generous portion of.

One of the highlights of the place is the live band which starts at 10pm. Playing tonight is a band called Timmy.

They did dedications, sang Travis and Maroon 5(among other groups) and even wished us a Happy National Day. As a group I thought their music was quite tight. The lead guitarist would start playing an intro to a song and the rest of the band would know what song it is and come in as if it was the most natural thing in the world to do.

But what is chilling out without a beer?

We ordered a few pints of KilKenny and Ero-something. I preferred the Ero one as it tasted a little cleaner. Only a few sips la.

All said and done, the place with great music, above average food but rather lousy service is in all ,still quite the place to go, especially in the company of good friends. Judging from the crowd that was waiting when we left, we aren't the only ones who like the place - if only they could give us the bill within the 4 songs we waited hopelessly for the bill for, the queue wouldn't be quite as long would it?

N36 reunited.
