Recalling a piece of summer

I got to admit this recall thing sucks.

It is when you receive a call from MINDEF that you being mobilised and precisely 0.032 seconds after you get that awful piece of news via a automated voice message, your army friend comes and confirms with you, making doubly sure that the call you two received were not figments of your collective imagination that yes - you all are being recalled.

Then the panic starts to set in.

Thankfully, the entire episode came and went without a hitch.

I was able to catch Cheer Chen's "A piece of summer" with Huishan at Max Pavilion.

We met at Eastpoint and wanted to take a bus but because of... erm some issues we took a cab and arrived at about 1940. When we reached there was already a crowd but realised after a while that most were leaving after a City Harvest service. :X

The crowd thinned out considerably when we reached the venue of the performance. Grabbing our tickets we went in but not before looking at some Cheer Chen merchandise.

In all honesty, the concert was really good. The first half was a little on the slow side but once Cheer Chen started belting out songs from her most recent CD, the crowd got very wild. Light sticks started dancing in all directions, the audience who had been sitting thus far started standing and the lights on stage got prettier.

She played a grand total of not 1 not 2 but 5 encores! The sad thing is I don't really know many of her older songs but that said, her songs have very catchy melodic lines and had me tapping my feet to each of them. from

But all good things must come to an end. The stage lights flashed for one last time and with the CD track on the speakers once more, Huishan and I made a beeline for the MRT station - to make sure we didn't miss the last train!

If you are nice to me, I may even lend you one of her CDs.

Hint: Being nice =treating me to something and this something has something to do with KFC. This particular item starts with the last letter of the alphabet but is my number one burger. I also strongly believe it has antidepressant properties .

Yey! It was a superb concert by Cheer Chen & her band during " A Piece of Summer" Tour at Singapore Max Pavilion. She played to near capacity fanatics with an unbelievable 5 Encores ! The fans here were treated to more songs than her Taiwan gig and more encores, too. I guess she was as happy as the fans who had to waited 2 years to see her in this part of the world!
