From the beginning

So it came and went. Da Capo I mean.

from Ben

Chris, Hui Shan and I met up quite early to prepare the sandwiches. In between boiling the eggs, adding more mayo into the egg and tuna(肥死你! Haha) and cutting the bread, we even found some time to have a sing-along session - although the only person singing along was myself because the eggs were done very fast.

For 3 people who rarely step into the kitchen, I think the sandwiches turned out OK. After having a quick lunch at Ghim Moh market(Wanton Mee) we cabbed down to UCC where we met the other half of the refreshment party, Jieying, who single-handedly baked an entire paper bag of muffins! They were really very good.

Mr. Tan chose this time to use a different tactic of preparing us for the concert. We rehearsed just the first piece and that was it. I think it did us quite alot of good because we had to save up energy for the entire hour plus reportoire. Where in In tempo 07 , we rehearsed quite a bit in the morning and were quite tired by the last piece, at least this time, I felt we could sustain a little better.

The concert itself was not too bad I think. I have friends commenting about how it is the best of the three concerts they have been to so I think that's really quite good.

Emotionally I thought the last part of No shadow of turning nearly did me in. Adrenaline was coursing theough my veins the entire last movement of Star Wars and I have to say my heart was in my mouth the whole time I was playing in the brass quintet. So for me, it was a very fufilling concert because I thought and I quote Erina and Hui Shan "the BASS is ZAI" even with all the wrong notes factored in.

To celebrate, the bass section along with some of the flutes went for dinner at Crystal Jade after that. For the record ,their fried rice rocks big time.

With that,I think I should sign off already. It's getting really er... early.

Daniel,out.

  1. Uh, I think Derek's position in the section photo is really quite obscene. I was like, what is he doing there? Haha.
