Wanton Mee

Safely tucked away at the back of the Ghim Moh market is a gem of a noodle store.

Almost every time I walk pass it I would feel like having it . More than once I have surrendered to the delectable morsels of Wanton and heavenly pieces Char Siew. And I can tell you the chilli is to die for - both the paste and the green ones.

Let us/me not get too excited and just start with the Wantons shall we?

The crowning piece of any reputable Wanton mee, these babies seldom disappoint. Silky smooth and delicate to a fault, these Wantons almost look like taels of gold, well, to me at least. They are so delightfully soft and amazingly choke full of flavour, they never fail to make my taste buds explode with excitement. I mean even just looking at them makes me feel like tomorrow will be a better day.

Next on the checklist is the Char Siew.Maybe it's just me but I just hate it when the Char Siew Slices are too thick or too thin. Not for this stall though. Handmade by the stall owners themselves, the Char Siew has become my standard of comparison for other Char Siew serving vendors Island-wide. And for the record, no one comes even close. Tender, fresh and, come on, let's be honest here, isn't it just screaming "eat me"?

Essential to every Wanton Mee, the chilli provides the extra kick, that lingering numbness in your lips that leave you wanting more. Not for the faint-hearted, the chilli packs quite a solid punch.

Like all popular stalls , this particular one likes a long weekend. The stall is closed every Friday.

Directly behind this stall is a very famous Char Kway Teow stall which ever since decided to go the healthier route has lost it's touch somewhat. It still sees long queues daily though.

So if you ever are in the area, go give the Wanton Mee a try. Satisfaction Guaranteed.
