It has been too long but here's an update to the trip I made last year to Australia.
One of the things I most look forward to during my trip to Australia was the two day farm stay near the end. What I didn't know was that when the travel agents say "farm stay" ,they really meant us staying at a resort near the farm while we visited the farm in the day.
That quite frankly ,disappointed me as I was thinking more along the lines of an authentic farm stay experience with a nice Bushdance thrown in.
That aside, we made our way to the farm after breakfast and were treated to some boomerang throwing. That got me quite excited because near the area where we were throwing boomerangs there were these beauties...
...which of course meant that we were going to ride them after our boomerang warm-up. After almost losing my boomerang in the clearing (it was moving in a very erratic manner), we finally got to the main course of the day, horse riding!
Basically, you have to hold on to your reins at all times. A tug to the left or right meant go left or right, and a sharp kick meant move. The guide advised against kicking too many times as the horse may go into a gallop. After donning our helmets we got to ride the horses in a circular dirt path.
It really was quite irritating because as soon as you get on the horse, the houseflies bug you to no end...which explains why there is no shot of myself on the horse because most of the time I was fanning the buzzing nuisance out of my face. Also, the horse I got must have been very hungry as he kept bending down to eat grass. -_-
All said and done I really wished I had given that horse a few more kicks. Maybe he would have at least gone to a canter!
