So NUSWS Dinner and Dance 08 took place last Saturday at the Penny Black. Looking back, I really had alot of fun organising the event! It rocks when you bounce ideas off people and they give you great suggestions.
Preparation for it took place way back before exams started and I'm glad it did. Actually, it started a week or 2 after Intempo with the survey to decide on the theme of our event. There were 3 choices, geeks!, wild wild west and masquerade. I was secretly hoping Wild wild west would win.
In the end , I think that the majority vote was really the wise choice because, not only is "geeks" amazingly simple to get into the part of, it actually makes for an interesting sight! The next part was really "boring part" with me having to collect money and settle the place and of course, the food.
The preparation really kicked into high gear straight after I ended my exams. Before that there was a visit to Penny Black to settle the bill and that was about it. Door gifts were made, awards molded(from leftover acrylic from exhibition) and prizes bought. More importantly, there was the programmes to settle. Settling of the programmes was really quite a tiresome task basically due to inexperience - we didn't know what members expected. But that turned out to be unfounded because basically, band members are receptive to almost anything so that's great!
There were some hiccups as well. We initially also planned for a short video segment but due to a lack of projector this was scrapped. By right, there should also be a microphone during the event that day too. That would save Zoey and I from our sore throats I think.
The event was a success thanks to the enthusiastic response from the members and also the Dinner and Dance committee! I think I owe them a treat. Haha. =)
