Pegi Pengerang

Got a chance to go over to Malaysia with my friends over one of the weekends. Unlike what most people do to get to Malaysia, we took an hour long bumboat from Changi Ferry Terminal to Pengerang with our bicycles and cycled some 20km to a smallish town centre for seafood. Setting off at 9am from Singapore, we made good time and ate our seafood lunch at noon. Throughout the trip there and back, we took in the sights and sounds of the rather quiet expressway along with the seemingly endless rows of rubber trees lining it. Saw some cows along the way as well. The last stop of the day was an ostrich farm where we had a chance to feed them while the owners tried to market their produce.

In sum, it was a great feeling to get out in the sun to break a sweat once in a while. This is especially so after a dreary week in the office. That said, I positively looked like a lobster on the Monday after the trip. Note to self, wearing a watch while getting baked do not a pretty picture make.

Also had a chance to watch MOZart at the SCH. They are a polish string quartet of sorts. Of sorts because they play classical music but jazz it with modern elements to make it funny. In one set, they attached little red lights on their bowing hand and switched off the lights. After which, they played variations of twinkle twinkle little star as the audience watched the little red lights doing wild acrobatics on stage. It was all very tastefully done.

You can really see they are having fun doing the performance and one thing's for sure. I haven't laughed so hard in a classical concert.
