Shorts and Blankets

Finished watching Pixar's shorts a few days back - you know, the quirky snippets of animation just before the main show starts - and I thought each and every one of them is very well thought out. I particularly liked one man band , lifted and for the birds . If you have time, or need a laugh or two you can give them a view.

Around the same time , I also finished reading Blankets, a comic by Craig Thompson. I think the term "comic book" doesn't do the fabulous piece of artwork justice. Coming in at about 600 pages the semi autobiographical novel deals with themes like friendship, separation and religion, in particular Christianity involving the protagonist, the author himself. An altogether beautifully drawn and amazing read.

A quote that I liked from Blankets.
How satisfying it is to leave a mark on a blank surface. To make a map of my movement - no matter how temporary.
Like writing I was here on a wall to give a semblance of significance in our being there.
