Cloudy Day of Labour
I looked out my window today and gasped.
No. It wasn't the F15s taking off in preparation of National Day Parade. Heck, it was so hot there weren't even birds flying about scouting for food.
Talking about birds. I don't like them. Not even the ones on Sesame Street.
I was walking to the bus stop cutting across the car park beneath my block during my JC days when I felt a sharp pain in my ear. I saw a shadow above me but nothing else. Being groggy as I usually was in the morning I dismissed the whole incident as an hallucination- Batman or not, I sure as hell wasn't Pengiun.
The next day, the same thing happened but this time I caught the culprit. It was that ruddy Crow happily sitting on the branch. Crows were infamous for nursing grudges, though this time at the wrong guy. They should have the system the police have ,where the suspects are brought in and the victim identifies them.
Making a mental note of that and nursing my already sore ear, I promised myself to always walk under the Void Decks. I wasn't attacked after that but my sister kept complaining of some bird pecking at her ear. Looks like the bird found another victim to terrorise.
But my bad bird experience didn't end there. Oh no.
When I was a student the school required us to do some CIP (Community Involement Programme.) So I found myself one fine Saturday morning in my school uniform collecting donations near a hawker centre. In comes this lady with her kid and she graciously donates $10. I flash her a megawatt smile and what happens next made me hesitate on my next donation.
A Crow flew on top of her and poos on her hair. The woman is so traumatised I wanted to give her all of my donations to placate her. She runs around half-crazed asking for a tissue. When she finally got one from her daughter she vigorously rubs the white gooey paste off her hair while muttering phrases like "hao ren mei hao bao" and "have to find a toilet". Of course I change places after that.
Birds aside, what I saw outside my window may appear very normal to some and yet picturesque to others. Presenting the clouds.
Well. It was nice and all but it didn't do justice to the clouds. So I took a another.
