Hidden Dragon, Mountain Tiger

The people promoting Sun Yanzi's new album really know how to chivvy people into buying her newest album, A Perfect Day.

Let's see what you get.

Exhibit A: The CD itself

Exhibit B: A CD containing a flash programme which essentially is a photoalbum

Exhibit C: $20 Partyworld KTV voucher

Exhibit D: Free haircut from by 'De Elements'

The first thought that crossed my mind as I was paying the cashier was, ' What am I thinking?'
I went into a CD shop in Century Square with all the intention of buying the China import. This month had seen my savings shrink like a balloon losing air mainly due to er ... the buying of certain concert tickets .

I was also saving up for Jay Chou's new album. A little bird(who happened to be a Jay Chou fan) told me that if I pre-ordered I could get a life-sized poster. Shucks, these people are good man.

Well, anyway I went up to the cashier with the China-import and he just stood there staring at me as if I were stealing the CD from right under his nose.

Cashier : You really want to get that?

Me: Yes, please.

Cashier : You know, if you get the original one, you'll be able to attend her showcase.

Me : But...

Cashier : And there's an extra CD which document her making of the CD.

Me : That's perfect. Now if...

Cashier : You can get a haircut free.

Really? On top of the $20 Party world KTV ? That really was quite good.

Personally I feel one shouldn't spend too much on haircuts especially since one like me is in the army. The only person who bothers to look at our hair is our Company Sergeant Major, who from time to time decides to pop her checks. And I don't think she'll care if its Armani, Curry Pok or Center-parting, unless it's too long.

I usually go to the all-you-can-cut-in one-month $2 Mountain Tiger barber in camp.

Although most of the time your hair looks as if it were chewed by their cubs, the cubs usually take out quite a fair bit and this mostly pleases the CSM, which is good enough for me.

Oh. (See small print)

Well, at the very least her songs this time aren't half as bad as I expected them to be. Judging from the song that has been playing on the radio, A Perfect Day, I had an ominous feeling they wouldn't make mine quite so perfect. That aside, some of them are actually quite good.

Worthy of mention is track 6 of her album, First Day. Jointly composed by F.I.R, Ashin of Mayday and Stefanie, it is an up-beat pop song which sounds more Mayday than anyone else. Ending the album is the slow and mellowed Ming tian, qing tian which actually sounds different from the other slow songs. I like it though.

But if there's a song I'll sing at the redemption of the partyworld KTV coupon, it'll be from Jay chou's. One key lower of course.

  1. haha, but hor, china import one actually considered illegal..pirated...ya, and it wont be counted in the sales... so if u really wanna support and let the artiste know their music is liked by ppl, buying the 'original' is sort of an enouragement?!

haha, perhaps i'm too crazy a mayday fan.. so buying the original seems very important..

Hey, i really do like this album.. the only sad thing is that the album only has 10 songs.. haha. Like the slow songs.. yin xin ren, yen lei cheng shi.. but apparently her next "hit" is the stadium sounding song.. which i think is ok.. But ya.. was surprised by the "numerous" gifts.. wonder if you received a bottle of body spray as well? I did? felt it was so strange.. haha. like how its connected?
