Having just watched the Oscar winning movie, I am Sam, I am convinced that I found yet another gem of a movie.
Previously recommended by my English teacher, this movie is about the struggle of a mentally handicapped father's ( Sean Penn) custody of his daughter (Dakota Fanning). In the process, he touches the life of his lawyer(Michelle Pfeiffer) and others around him.
I must confess, I gravitate towards movies( and books) which tug at the heart strings and make you think about everyday values, values we have come to dismiss as unimportant in our never endless quest for that paper qualification, that higher position, that special something to be one better than everyone else.
They don't make movies like that anymore.
Highly recommended. Be cautioned: water works are expected.
