1. What should you do when a student cheats in a test?
Do you
(a) avert your eyes and begin heavily scrutinizing your pencil
(b) stare at him with furrowed eye brows and begin making clicking your tongue very rapidly
(c) ask him to desist; nicely
(d) join in the fun and cheat with him?
Sadly, the most common reaction is a and b with a minority falling in the d category as I found out in the test I took hours ago. The guy in question was sitting beside me.
It was 15 minutes before the test even started. The chief invigilator very clearly told everyone to not flip over their question paper. Some students were still strolling in and in the silence of the multi-purpose sports hall, I heard a distinct scribbling sound. Being a student myself, I can understand if you were abit anxious and sneaked a peek at the questions. But this was too much.Working out the answers for the questions; A full fifteen minutes somemore. In between the stares and clicking of tongues ( and of course others joining in the fun) the policeman in me decided to do the unthinkable.
Me: Excuse me. I don't think we are supposed to flip over the questions yet.
Guy with the scribbling pencil: *nonchalant shrug*
But he did stop working out the answers.
I should be a policeman.
