Things you shouldn't do

when you are preparing a set of lecture notes.

1. Give an equation, and not state what the different letters stand for.

case in point:

dq-dw=dh +CdC +gdZ

2. Give a wrong equation

case in point:

Q-W +summation sign(E+pv)-summation sign(E+pv)=dE/dt

In actual fact, the terms on the left all should be "divided" by dt.

3. Use different letters for the exact same quantities.

case in point:

using the above equation but replace dE/dt with dU/dt.

4. Tell us that certain terms in the equation equate to zero but not tell us why.

5. State the senario is a steady-state but use the equation for the non-steady state.

6. Set examples where there is missing information.

7. I can't think of any more, but man this sucks.

8. Prepare a set of revised lecture notes to correct all the changes above, but with new mistakes.

And that is why sometimes, teachers can really really really make students absolutely hate the bloody subject.
