So our initial gang of four or five dwindled down to just the two of us, Jieying and I.
Outside Old NAFA
One thought it was next week. Another had to finish up a project. And to add insult to injury, it was drizzling slightly when we arrived at our starting point, Bugis. From there we walked to 四马路, took a shortcut to Clarke Quay where we ended our ..erm.. escapade.
To be sure, we walked quite a distance. It was quite lucky that shortly before reaching Bencoolen street, the rain had already stopped. Along side official tour guide Jieying, we managed to take our pictures in (what I think to be rather impressive) 2 hours! Enjoy the pictures - or not.
Temple birds
They were serenely minding their own business just before a girl with a pink umbrella decided that she was taking over the territory and scared them all away, sending the terrified birds in all directions in a flutter of wings. I reckon quite a few narrowly missed our heads by inches.
The cool thing about taking a walk about these places is the subtle mix of modern and not-so-modern elements.
Smiling face
Statues placed outside modern shopping centres are thought to bring luck and prosperity to the mall. More than few patrons were rubbing their hands on its tummy,a way to rub off his good luck.
Along the way, we went past the current Nanyang Academy for Fine Arts and stumbled upon one of its art galleries. It had an exhibition all the way from Germany entitled area of violence. One of the pieces of the exhibtion consisted of a polariod camera on a tripod, a table and a few chairs. The objective is to take a photo of yourself, paste it on a template and essentially introduce yourself. Well, we all know the outcome of that.
reflections
I was just trying to act zai in the above picture by trying to capture the reflection of the building in the puddle of water. Hastily taken just before the green man came on as we made our way to our destination, Clarke Quay.
One man's dream - ice cream
I seriously felt like a ice cream after the long but satisfying walk.
